The former England full-back has been plagued by various injury problems over the last two years and is currently struggling with a back complaint.

Initial reports had suggested the 27-year-old was facing a further six months on the sidelines.

But Bath's Chris Mallac said: "It's looking good at the moment and he is working very hard with a specialist."

Mallac added: "There are improvements in terms of the strength of his hamstrings and lower back, and we are pleased with the way he is progressing."

Reports from his specialist in London suggest he could be back in training with his team-mates within a month.
