Att: 6,103 | Saracens capitalised on London Irish errors to keep their hopes of reaching the Powergen Cup knockout stages alive. Kyran Bracken stole the ball from Ben Willis to set up Kevin Sorrell's early opener before Paul Bailey raced on to Glen Jackson's kick to extend the lead. The Exiles then knocked on and were pushed back in three scrums, allowing Bracken to put Sarries 22-3 ahead. Rod Penney scored a consolation try for Irish but more good scrummaging enabled Ben Skirving to add Sarries fourth try. Irish captain Rob Hardwick was taken to hospital after the match with a suspected neck injury.
Saracens coach Steve Diamond: "Our forward pack hadn't turned up since the game against Leeds and we were delighted with what we did. "Cobus Visagie is a very good tight head - the scrum is still a big area of the game and we knew if we got in the right positions we'd get the best out of him. "The lads have stayed positive because we know that when we get it right - dominating at the set pieces from the right field positions - we can win games." London Irish coach Brian Smith: "Give Saracens their due - they bullied us at the scrums on their own put in. "But the most disappointing thing was that we played a lot of rugby but lacked any finish and composure. "First and foremost it's a physical game but I don't think we competed in that area as much as we needed to."
