Sale put in a strong second-half display to hold off Saracens and claim a maximum five points at Vicarage Road.

Tries by Elvis Seveali'i and Sebastien Chabal after the break put the visitors in a comfortable position after leading 16-10 at half-time.

Saracens hit back through Kris Chesney and Adam Powell to reduce the deficit.

But Mark Cueto scored in his eighth consecutive match to equal the league record while Charlie Hodgson added the conversion and a penalty for the win.

Sale boss Phillipe Saint-Andre:

"We created a lot of chances, scored four tries and got the bonus point. But we should have killed the game off earlier.

"We need to be more clinical. We scored some good tries and it was good to watch but there's room for improvement.

"When we attack I don't worry. It's the defence we need to address."

Saracens boss Steve Diamond:

"Our performance was very disappointing and we're not happy to concede 40 points at home.

"Our basics let us down in the second half. Sale ran over us in certain areas. Defensively we were atrocious.

"We could have stopped all the tries. If we'd defended like we did last year we would have won comfortably."
