James Brown's 17-point haul boosted Worcester's Zurich Premiership survival bid as they outplayed Leeds.
The fly-half kicked two drop-goals, three penalties and a conversion to pull the Warriors five points clear of bottom-placed Harlequins.
And Worcester's forwards dominated, driving Tony Windo over for a score.
The scoreline was only made close by mistakes as Andre Snyman and Tim Stimpson took advantage of charge downs to score two second-half Leeds tries.
Stimpson's stunning effort silenced Sixways and his conversion put Leeds within a point.
But Brown again put Worcester clear with a penalty on 68 minutes and their pressure eventually saw them keep enough possession to see the game out.
Warriors head coach Andy Keast breathed a sigh of relief after his team had made life hard for themselves.
"The only people that were going to beat us today was ourselves," he said.
"The score doesn't reflect the performance but you can throw games away can't you?
"But we've got to look at the positives and that was about total forward power up front, followed by 15-man rugby."
