England prop Phil Vickery made his first appearance for six months in Gloucester's pre-season friendly win against Calvisano on Saturday.

Vickery last played in February, when he suffered a serious arm injury during a Premiership clash against Bath.

The injury ended his Six Nations hopes and also wrecked any prospect he had of making the Lions tour to New Zealand.

He played for an hour in a powerful Gloucester display, wing Mark Foster scoring three tries in a 61-0 win.

James Simpson-Daniel scored a superb solo try before limping off with an ankle injury in the second half.
