Bath are confident Olly Barkley will recover from back spasms in time to face Saracens on New Year's Day. He was a late withdrawal from Bath's defeat by Sale on Monday after hurting his back practising on Boxing Day. "We are hopeful at the moment. He has improved and we will just have to see how he trains this week before making a decision," said coach John Connolly. Dynamic centre Alex Crockett has been struggling with a shoulder injury but is also hoping to recover in time.
