Olly Barkley slotted over every kick as Bath secured a comprehensive, if scrappy, victory over Harlequins. Jeremy Staunton opened the scoring for the visitors when he intercepted Chris Malone's pass, but Andrew Higgins' try and a Barkley goal soon put Bath ahead.
Barkley's kicks kept the scoreboard ticking over until Lee Mears and replacement Tom Cheeseman ran in late tries for Bath to wrap up the victory.
Despite the scoreline, it was a disjointed win for the home side.
Bath coach John Connolly was heartened by another impressive win, although he admitted it had not been the greatest game.
He said: "It's the sort of game where you just want to get in, win it and get out. We approach our season in blocks, and this was one game outside the block."
Harlequins team manager Mike Scott said Quins had hoped to do well in the competition.
"We are very disappointed," said Scott. "We made loads of mistakes and never got back into the game.
"Doing well in the cup is possibly the easiest way to qualify for the Heineken Cup but we've blown it.
"There's only the Zurich Premiership left for us, and we've got some very tough games coming up."
