Krige will return to a familiar leading role with Saints |
Northampton have announced that new signing Corne Krige will be their captain for the forthcoming season. The former South African skipper joined the club in the summer and said: "I have always liked being involved in the decision-making process of a team."
Hooker Steve Thompson will take the vice-captain's role and Saints coach Alan Solomons said: "They will provide a very balance and a very good mix."
Krige will begin his new role in a friendly against Edinburgh on Saturday.
Solomans added that he had high hopes for Thompson as a leader of the future.
"Steve is a younger man and I have been very impressed with the leadership qualities he has shown.
Steve is already a good captain and has the makings of an outstanding captain."
