Twickenham will host the Intermediate Cup final on 14 May

Stoke rugby club are hoping to complete a memorable double for the city on Saturday when they face Aylesford in the final of the RFU Intermediate Cup.

Their first appearance at Twickenham comes on the same day as Stoke City's first ever FA Cup final at Wembley.

"For the two clubs to be in the capital city, at the home of football and the home of rugby, is wonderful," chairman Jeremy Edwards told BBC Radio Stoke.

"It's great for the clubs and it's great for the city of Stoke-on-Trent."

Edwards had enquired about changing the kick-off time of the final at Twickenham, as several players have connections to the football club and wanted to be involved in both occasions.

"There are four games on the day and I asked whether it was possible to change it," he said.

"There was some discussion but it was very brief to say that we couldn't."
