Plymouth Albion ended the regular season in disappointing fashion as they lost at home to Bedford.

Tries from Aaron Carpenter, Cameron Mitchell and Alex Davies gave Albion a 24-22 lead going into injury time.

But Bedford wing Handre Schmidt added to scores from Ollie Dodge, James Pritchard and Alex Rae to take victory.

Having finished 10th in the league, Albion will now fight to avoid relegation, with play-offs against Esher, Moseley and Birmingham.

Bedford end the regular season second in the standings, and now go into Pool B of the promotion play-offs along with Cornish Pirates, Rotherham and Doncaster.
