King captains the Ellesmere College first XV

Seven players from Ellesmere College have impressed in trial games and will be called up by Midlands' selectors.

The College's first-team captain Tom King has been named in the North Midlands and Shropshire under-18 sides.

Also chosen are George Baxter, William Goodwin and Bryn and Iwan Philips, while Louis Chaudron, Colin Dickson and James Preston made the under-16 sides.

"These boys are dedicated to developing their skills," said Ian Williams, the college's director of sport.

"I'm delighted that they have been recognised for their ability and effort."

Ellesmere College is holding an open Academy Day to showcase its rugby programme on 29 January.
