Les Quennevais (in red) won the Hampshire Bowl in 2003 |
Les Quennevais Lydion Lions beat United Banks by six tries to one in the Jersey qualifier of the Hampshire Plate. Tries from Matt Hill, Alex Whitehead and a classy kick and catch for Tim Hutchings made it 20-0 at half-time. Banks pulled back five points with Nigel West going over, but further scores from Dan Lezalam, George Walker and Tom Butler secured the win. Les Quennevais earned themselves a first-round proper clash away at Guernsey St Jacques in mid-January. Jersey Rugby Club's Miles Landick, who has been sidelined this season with a long-term shoulder injury, has spent some of his time coaching Les Quennevais. "The forwards set up a good platform for the backs." he told BBC Jersey. "We were really physical and fired up."
