Exeter ran in five tries to win comfortably in an all-English European Challenge Cup clash at Sandy Park. Exeter led 22-0 at the break after two tries in five minutes from forwards Ben Moon and Herbie Stupple, followed by a cracker from winger Matt Jess. Newcastle scrum-half Micky Young nipped in for a blind-side try five minutes after the restart, while winger Danny Williams also crossed. But second-half tries for Chad Slade and Andrew Higgins wrapped up victory. Stand-off Ryan Davis, whose clever cross-kick led to Jess's try, had a good day with the boot for the Chiefs. He also kicked three conversions and a penalty, Exeter's other two points coming from replacement Phil Dollman, who converted the final try by Higgins. Exeter boss Rob Baxter made 12 changes to the side that lost at Wasps on league duty last time out.
