Richard Hill promises more entertaining rugby at the top of The Championship |
Worcester Warriors head coach Richard Hill is appealing for the club's missing fans to return to Sixways after a big drop in gates from last season. Worcester were averaging crowds of over 10,000 in the Premiership. But, after attracting 6,500 for this season's Championship opener, that fell by 700 for the second home match - and coach Richard Hill wants them back. "We are starting to click, I would like them to see what we are trying to do," Hill told BBC Hereford & Worcester. "They will see some great rugby. This is the sort of rugby we would like to play in the Premiership." After six seasons of comparative struggle and tension-filled matches battling away at the wrong end of the Premiership, Worcester have opened up in The Championship with four straight wins to go two points clear at the top. Warriors averaged over 10,00 fans in their last Premiership season |
Only two of those wins have been bonus-point victories, but Worcester have still clocked up 17 tries in four games - and Hill insists that the Warriors fans are going to be entertained. "They can come and watch the games and enjoy it without their hearts pounding," added Hill. "A lot of supporters will feel that, if we are going to win, they will come in. "My wife will go if she feels we are going to win, and maybe some of our fans are like that." Worcester Warriors take on Doncaster Knights at Sixways this Saturday (25 September, 1500 BST).
