Nottingham were edged out 27-21 by London Welsh at Meadow Lane in their opening Championship fixture on Sunday.

The Green & Whites put in a solid performance against their big-spending opponents and led 15-13 at the interval through five James Arlidge penalties.

Arlidge added two kicks after the break but the visitors ran in two more tries to add to their two five-point scores in the first half to secure the win.

Josh Drauniniu scored two, including the vital try with five minutes left.
