Cambridge Rugby Club needs to build itself a lasting "legacy" according to boss Bob Crooks.
The National One side's head coach has been busy putting the pieces together as they prepare for next season but has warned the club needs consistency.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "The club needed to be rebuilt, but it's pointless if that drops off quickly.
"It's key we maintain this over two or three years and then the legacy starts to fall into place."
The last campaign failed to live up to the title challenge of 12 months ago, with the team finishing fourth, but four new signings have already been made to try and bolster the squad.
Winger Jaco Du Toit, 27, has arrived from Westcombe Park and 22-year-old Newbury Blues lock Ien Ascroft-Leigh has strengthened the second row.
While centre James Knight, 21, has made the switch from Bedford and fly-half Phil Ellis, 23, has left Southend to battle for a place in the Cambridge back line.
"I don't want to get carried away," Crooks added.
"We just need to get our head down now and work, because we have set up the systems and structures, but it's all just talk.
"We need to put this into action and we won't find out how successful we are until the end of the season."
