Dorset & Wilts beat Oxfordshire in the semi final 38-10

Dorset & Wilts bid for rugby silverware this weekend as the senior side make their first ever visit to Twickenham.

The twin counties take on Leicestershire in the County Championship Shield Final on Sunday.

The club have beaten Sussex, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire en route to rugby's headquarters.

Manager Hamish Morton told BBC Radio Solent: "It's a huge achievement. Two years ago we were unable to field a side and had to withdraw."

Dorset & Wilts are renowned for a fast attacking game modelled on the "southern-hemisphere style' according to head coach Simon Culley.

It's up to Leicestershire to try and deal with us rather than us to try and deal with them

Head coach Simon Culley

"We've got a quick and dangerous back three. Mike Pope on the left wing was top points scorer for Bournemouth in South West One a couple of years ago.

"Simon Lilley on our right wing has played for England students.

"Our player who gets the most recognition is young open-side flanker James Stevenson. He is still a schoolboy at Canford School but is signing for Bath's academy full time next season."

Morton also feels that the side is full of potential match-winners: "Scott [Chislett] had a really good game in the semi-final but we've got players all over the pitch, especially in the back row."

The Rugby Football Union have put a tight schedule in place for Sunday afternoon at Twickenham.

The Championship Shield final [at 1200 BST] is followed by the Bill Beaumont Cup final [1400 BST] before the prestigious non-cap match between England and the Barbarians [1700 BST].

Morton says the squad are thrilled to be involved in such a high-profile agenda: "We're excited and nervous but confident of putting in a good performance and hopefully a win will come from that."
