Johnson's team will play two Tests against Australia in June

England's players and the Rugby Football Union have reached an agreement to end the dispute over pay.

Team England Rugby and the RFU say they have "resolved all the outstanding tour issues" over payments for the summer tour to Australia and New Zealand.

The row had led to an independent third party being appointed to review the matter and their recommendations have been accepted.

The two parties say that details of the agreement will not be revealed.

A joint statement from Team England Rugby and the RFU read: "The Rugby Football Union and Team England Rugby are pleased to announce that they have resolved all the outstanding issues over tour payments for the elite player squad for the tour to Australia and New Zealand.

"Both sides met today with the independent third party appointed to review the situation, and accepted their recommendations.

"The details of the final resolution remain confidential and will not be disclosed by either party."

It is understood the original deal proposed giving players turning out in England's Test 22 against the Wallabies additional match fees of £5,000 per Test - plus a possible £1,500 win bonus - on top of the basic £7,800 tour payment.

That could have led to some players earning a minimum £10,000, more than those not involved in either Test match.

England manager Martin Johnson has named a 44-man squad for the five-match trip, which starts in Perth on 8 June and includes two Tests against Australia.

England will also face New Zealand Maori in Napier.
