Hambly has seen the Reds win 12 matches this season |
Redruth head coach Nigel Hambly has announced that he will be standing down from the role at the end of the season. The 38-year-old feels that it is the right time to move on after eight years at the National League One club. "I'm hanging my boots up," he told BBC Radio Cornwall. "I won't be coaching at Redruth next year as, if I'm honest, I think it's time for a change. "I've always said I want to leave the club better than I've found it and, hand on heart, I think I've done that." Hambly's announcement came shortly after Redruth secured their National One future for another season, with Saturday's five-try win over Sedgley Park. That result put the Reds on 68 points from 28 games, taking their number of wins this term up to 12. The Cornish side still have another two National One games of the season remaining before Hambly departs, with away trips to Cambridge and Esher to come. Hambly suffered a four-week suspension in February for abusing officials during the 34-13 defeat against Wharfedale.
