Exeter Chiefs ended stage one of the Championship season with a 10-try rout of Birmingham & Solihull. The Chiefs exerted their superiority from the outset, building a 41-7 lead by half-time. It was more of the same after the break as Mark Foster completed a hat-trick of tries, with Gareth Steenson and Nic Sestaret also going over. The Bees, who have not won a league match all season, scored a consolation try through winger Anthony Elliott. The Chiefs' other tries came from Neil Clark, Tom Hayes, Steve Jones and James Scaysbrook, with a penalty try awarded in the second-half. Steenson kicked the remainder of Exeter's points, slotting over six conversions. The Chiefs are now away at Nottingham next Sunday in the first game of the promotion play-offs. After ending the first stage of the Championship at the bottom of the table, Birmingham & Solihull will travel to Coventry next weekend for round one of the relegation play-offs.
