Crockett made 125 appearances for Bath before his departure last year
Bristol centre Alex Crockett said he could not have written a better script than to score a try on his club debut.
Crockett, 28, helped the side to a 21-16 win at Nottingham in the British and Irish Cup after completing a nine-month ban for missing two drugs tests.
He told BBC Radio Bristol: "I loved it, it's great to be back and to score a try, you couldn't write the script.
"Over the last few months I've been waking up in the night and dreaming of things like that and it was fantastic."
The victory was Bristol's 15th in a row, although they are highly unlikely to qualify for the semi-finals of the cup with Munster needing just a point from their final game to finish above them in pool B.
Crockett was taken off in the second half after feeling a twinge in his hamstring but was pleased Bristol maintained their unbeaten streak.
"We knew it was going to be hard coming up here, Nottingham are strong at home and put out a good team so we're really happy to dig deep and get a result here," he said.
"I probably could have carried on, it's more precautionary than anything. I still didn't want to come off but the physios pulled rank and got me off."
