Luctonians were forced to call off Saturday's National League Three Midlands match because opponents Bedford were unable to raise a team. Athletic lie bottom of the league table, having lost all of their 21 games this season. "They are in an unenviable position and copped a 74-0 hiding last week," Luctonians chairman Dave Burke told BBC Hereford & Worcester. "I think they felt they could face a similar score this week so the players decided not to make the trip." It is thought that the game, which would have formed part of Luctonians' 'Corporate Day', will be re-arranged for early May, but this has yet to be confirmed. Burke added: "We have got what we call our Corporate Day where we invite our major sponsors along to have a meal and then watch the rugby. "That is still going ahead, but we now only have a fourth-team fixture so I think that could be the best-supported fourth-team match ever. "Their chairman did phone me up this morning and he was almost in tears. I told him that, while I sympathised with his situation, they have to see it from our point of view as well."
