Devon Under-20s got their National Cup campaign off to a solid start with a 21-8 victory over Somerset. Devon were in control from the outset, and built up a 13-0 lead at the break, following tries from winger Jamie Harris and flanker James Harris. In the second-half, Devon scrum-half Tom Kessel went over, before Somerset scored a late consolation try through winger Kyle Giblett. The weekend's other game saw Gloucestershire beat Cornwall 42-3. Cornwall took an early lead in the encounter at Polson Bridge through a Richard Keven penalty, before defending champions Gloucestershire proceeded to exert their dominance with six unanswered tries. Gloucestershire's tries came from centre's Christian Gervais and Brett Turner, winger's Jack Hayes and Jamie Cole, and prop's Will Davis and Kane Newport. The next round of fixtures in South West Group B on 28 February, sees Somerset host Cornwall, whilst Devon are away to Gloucestershire.
