Nottingham wing Andy Savage said the unconvincing win over Heriots in the British and Irish Cup group stage was a great result given the poor weather.

The Green & Whites scraped through in Edinburgh on Saturday on a cold, wet, windy and miserable day.

Savage, who scored the only try of an uninspiring game, told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Given the conditions then I think we'll take any win.

"We didn't play as well as we could but had some good bits of play."

He added: "If it was a dry day it could have been a little bit different but we should have played a little bit better."
