Spice says he is looking to improve on his early season form

Bristol captain Jason Spice says the support the side has received has been fantastic as they prepare to take on Moseley at home on Friday.

"From a players point of view we're certainly well aware of our responsibilities to them," the 34-year-old told BBC Radio Bristol.

"We'll be looking to put in a big performance and a winning performance."

Bristol currently lie third in the Championship but lost their last home game to league leaders Exeter Chiefs.

Moseley will arrive at the Memorial Stadium having won their last three games and with a team that includes several Gloucester squad players including James Simpson-Daniel's brother Charlie.

"Being the team that gets demoted from the previous year means you're the team that gets targeted," said Spice.

"So every game we get a hard game with the team turning up and they throw the kitchen sink at you and I think it's good.

"We'll give Moseley respect like we do every other team but you need to worry about what's going on in your own back yard."

The Kiwi scrum-half joined in the summer from Cardiff Blues and says he is adapting to life outside the top flight.

"I was on the bus to Falmouth when I got a text message from Martin Williams who was watching Cardiff Blues," he said.

"He asked me how I was, 'living the dream?'

"But these are just challenges that are different. You either dwell on the tough parts or get excited about the challenges and get into it.

"From a personnel perspective you couldn't get a better bunch of blokes to be playing with. I've landed on my feet."

Bristol have made two changes to the starting XV that beat Cornish Pirates at the weekend. Tom Arscott comes in on the right wing for Lee Robinson with Mark Irish replacing Alex Clarke at prop.

On the bench fly-half Chris Ashwin comes in after recovering from a pre-season injury and Robbie Shaw replaces Sam Alford as second-choice scrum-half.
