Adrian Bick has resigned as head coach of Mounts Bay just days after the club was saved from potential collapse.

Bick spent two years in charge of the club but was unable to prevent them from being relegated from National Two last season.

Bay staved off their financial problems on Monday by agreeing a ground and player sharing deal with Redruth.

From next season, Mounts Bay will play all of their home games at Redruth's Recreation Ground.

Bick told BBC Radio Cornwall that he would be unable to fully commit to Bay's move to Redruth.

He said: "It might have been difficult and there might have been conflicting interests about the playing structure.

Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see Mounts Bay pull themselves out of a nosedive

"At the moment the Mounts Bay team would predominantly be Redruth players, so I can see them wanting to have some control, albeit at a separate club."

Bick said that problems began to rear their head at the club at the beginning of the 2009/10 season.

"I felt we were slightly hamstrung right from the outset.

"It's a shame really, I think we could have done things slightly differently at the Bay and I'll hold my hands up and say I could have done things differently," he said.

"We kind of had the stuffing knocked out of us last season and to be honest that impacted on my decision. It was a really challenging season and it was probably one league too far too soon."

But the former coach is hopeful that the challenge of keeping Mounts Bay alive would be successful.

Bick said: "Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see Mounts Bay pull themselves out of a nosedive."
