Munster start defence at Glasgow

Magners Celtic League

Munster will start their Magners League title defence with a trip to Scotland to face Glasgow Warriors on the opening 2009/10 season weekend (4-6 September).

Anglo-Welsh Cup holders Cardiff Blues begin life in their new home at the City Stadium against Edinburgh.

Scarlets host Heineken Cup champions Leinster, Ulster visit Dragons and Ospreys travel to play Connacht.

The new end-of-season semi-finals will be held on 14-16 May, with the first ever Magners League final on 28-30 May.

Exact match dates, times and coverage details have yet to be finalised, but Scrum V Live will continue to show matches on BBC television and online, with S4C's Y Clwb Rygbi providing Welsh language broadcasts.

Action will be available on demand for seven days after each match date on the BBC and S4C websites.

Fans can look forward to the traditional derby matches over the Christmas and New Year holiday period, although fixtures are subject to change.

In Wales the Blues are set to host the Dragons on Boxing Day and then head to the Liberty Stadium to face the Ospreys, who will already have played at the Scarlets.

The Scarlets finish their holiday period away to the Dragons at Rodney Parade.

In Ireland Leinster host Ulster and Connacht travel to Munster on Boxing Day, with Connacht v Leinster and Ulster v Munster to follow.

The two Scottish pro-teams play back-to-back fixtures during that period, with Glasgow Warriors having home advantage first against Edinburgh before the reverse fixture on 1 January.
