Leeds Carnegie duo Fosi Pala'amo and new signing Henry Fa'afili have been named in the Samoa squad for the Pacific Nations Cup. Pala'amo and Fa'afili were selected after impressing in a trial game that involved 70 players. The trial was played in six 25 minute periods in which players were rotated in and out by the the coaches. They will now prepare to face the Junior All Blacks in their opening Cup game on Friday. Meanwhile Leeds skipper Mike MacDonald came off the bench to play 28 minutes in the USA's 48-15 defeat by Wales in Bridgeview, Illinois on Saturday. Fellow prop Juan Gomez played the final 20 minutes of the Argentina Jaguars 28-20 Churchill Cup loss to England Saxons at Infinity Park, Denver over the weekend. MacDonald and Gomez could now go head-to-head on Wednesday as the USA and Argentina Jaguars meet in Pool B of the Churchill Cup.
