Cash-strapped Mounts Bay were overwhelmed by Birmingham and Solihull, succumbing to an 80-5 defeat at Sharmans Cross Road on Saturday. The rampant Bees closed in on Redruth at the top of National Two, running in 12 tries in a club-record home victory. Seven tries ensured Birmingham led 47-5 at half-time, with flanker Brett Stroud scoring Mounts Bay's only try. A further five scores punished the Cornish team, who were a dispirited outfit by the final whistle.
