We must stay focused - MacDonald

Leeds Carnegie captain Mike MacDonald is confident his team will not become complacent, despite their eight-point lead at the top of National League 1.

"There is no point looking at the Premiership yet as we are not there yet," MacDonald told BBC Radio Leeds.

"It has to be one game at the time, and the next is Rotherham on Sunday. We cannot afford to switch off."

Leeds have won all 18 games this season, including two victories over their main promotion rivals Exeter.

Under the new management duo of Andy Key and Neil Back, Leeds have been in superb form and showed that again on Boxing Day when they beat West Yorkshire neighbours Otley 66-10.

MacDonald added: "I think the rotation policy that Key and Back have installed is really paying off now.

"We made 12 changes for the Otley game and a lot of the players had a point to prove and I think that shows.

"Strength in depth is key especially at this time of year when you have a lot of games in a short space of time and have a few niggling injuries."

BBC Radio Leeds has exclusive commentary of Leeds Carnegie v Rotherham Titans on 774 AM, DAB and online at bbc.co.uk/leeds from 14.50 GMT on Sunday.
