Mounts Bay recorded a comfortable 40-15 win over Southend at the Mennaye Field in National League Two on Saturday.

Seven penalties from fly-half Dan Hawkes gave Mounts Bay a solid foundation to build on.

Two penalty tries were also awarded to the Bay, the second coming after Hawkes was obstructed above Southend's goal-line following a kick ahead.

However Mounts Bay were unable to score the four tries that would have secured a bonus point.
