Mitchell has been playing for Taranaki in the Air New Zealand Cup |
Launceston have signed prop forward Hamish Mitchell from provincial New Zealand side Taranaki. The 27-year-old follows fellow Kiwi and Cornish All Blacks player Scott Ireland from Taranaki after they played together in the Air New Zealand Cup. He will go straight into the squad for Saturday's match at Blaydon. "He has played 41 times in the Air New Zealand Cup which goes some way to show the player's credentials," said joint head coach Jon Hill. "This guy is full of motivation and focus. He knows exactly what to expect from his time here in Cornwall and having received a glowing reference from both Scott Ireland and former Polson favourite Simon Porter, we are expecting a shove in the right direction." | I'm looking forward to meeting the boys and hopefully getting stuck in and getting promotion at the end of the year | Mitchell already has experience of English rugby having played in the Premiership for Saracens in the 2005/06 season. "I'm looking forward to being over here and bringing my style and game to Polson Bridge," said Mitchell. "I'm looking forward to meeting the boys and hopefully getting stuck in and getting promotion at the end of the year."
