England cannot play much worse than that - it was dire.

Not taking anything away from Scotland, but for four halves of their matches in this Six Nations England have been utter rubbish - it is as simple as that.

Frankly they are just not good enough. You have to control the intensity of games and I'm bewildered at times by their option taking and their execution of things.

You cannot have people who are talismanic and therefore cannot be dropped and I do not think Jonny Wilkinson should start against Ireland.

Danny Cipriani messed up off the field and was dropped. If you mess up on the field you have to go, it is as simple as that. I would put Cipriani at 10 for the game against Ireland.

You look at the English players in the first half and there was no spark and no drive, no aggression at the breakdown, no real passion. It was very lethargic.

England captain Phil Vickery has said 'if we don't front up we can expect to pack up our bags and go back to our clubs' and that is exactly what should happen.

If you do not drop players after that then I do not know what sort of message that sends.

From a Scottish point of view, if we can back it up with a win in Italy then it shows that things have changed after our recent poor run.

Scotland produced a committed performance to down England

I did think that in the performance against Ireland in the previous game we turned a corner a bit. We were being more ambitious and we got a lot of possession.

I think the determination and the team spirit on Saturday showed Scotland are going in the right direction.

It is a big pressure game for England now against Ireland, who have got such a good record at Twickenham over the past few years.

England's overall performance was not just poor, it was very, very poor.

I think they will all be holding their hands up this morning - you just cannot hide behind that sort of performance. It was a bit of a shattering blow for them.

To just rant and rave at players now would not be the ideal thing to do, you have got to sit down with a lot of individuals and try and find out what on earth is happening.

I would not have chucked Danny Cipriani out of the team. I think it was massive overreaction; I think they got that totally wrong.

I have heard comments saying 'that didn't affect the team performance'. A lot of those England players would have been feeling pretty poor about what happened - I would not underestimate what that can do to a team environment.

I am not going to criticise people but just kicking the ball up in the air and hoping we might get someone underneath it was not really the right tactic.

Scotland looked really hungry for the game - they were making their first up tackles, they were getting to the breakdown, they had a little bit more desire, a little bit more snap about them - England looked a little bit lacklustre.

Obviously the weather was a factor but it is the same for both sides. You have to say Scotland deserved their victory, rather than it being fortuitous.
