Wilkinson escapes citing charge
Jonny Wilkinson
Jonny Wilkinson denied injuring Jonathan Thomas
England's Jonny Wilkinson will not be cited for his challenge on Jonathan Thomas during Saturday's Six Nations defeat by Wales.

Wilkinson's arm smashed into Thomas' face, but there appeared to be no malice on the England star's behalf, while Wales did not make any protest.

Thomas, who left the pitch dazed and with blood seeping from his mouth, will continue to undergo tests this week.

Wilkinson has denied it was his tackle that injured the Wales flanker.

"There has been speculation that it was my tackle that led to it," he wrote in his Times column.

"I feel that it was not my tackle and it is always very sad to see a player going off injured.

"I stand firmly against foul play in the game. It has never been my desire or intention to be involved in anything like that and neither will it ever be."

Thomas, 25, is being assessed by the Wales medical team and is a doubt for Saturday's Six Nations game with Scotland at the Millennium Stadium.
