Michalak has not started a Test for France for 17 months |
France have made eight changes for Saturday's second World Cup warm-up game against England in Marseille. Half-backs Jean-Baptiste Elissalde and Frederic Michalak will replace Pierre Mignoni and David Skrela, who started in the 21-15 win at Twickenham.
Wingers Christophe Dominici and Cederic Heymans are also back alongside Toulouse centre Yannick Jauzion.
Coach Bernard Laporte has also named a new back row in Imanol Harinordoquy, Thierry Dusautoir and Yannick Nyanga.
Dominici replaces Vincent Clerc while fellow winger Heymans comes in for Aurelien Rougerie while Jauzion, who returns after recovering from a back injury, replaces David Marty.
Serge Betsen, Remy Martin and Julien Bonnaire, who all started last week's Test at Twickenham, drop out of the back row.
Michalak will make his first appearance for France since picking up a knee injury against Wales in last year's Six Nations.
Fabien Pelous will become France's most capped player on Saturday |
The fly-half - one of nine Toulouse players in France's starting line-up - believes he is under no pressure for the number 10 shirt, despite competition from Skrela and Lionel Beauxis.
"I feel good physically and I have nothing to prove," said the 24-year-old, who is set to join Super 14 side Natal Sharks next season.
"There are plans put in place by the coaches, and I am just responding to them and trying to be defensively and offensively efficient.
"For us, me and Jean-Baptiste, it is important we do that. Competition is always there, in all sports. You can't escape it."
Fabien Pelous is set to become France's most capped player when he makes his 112th appearance on Saturday.
The second row currently shares the accolade with former centre Philippe Sella.
Meanwhile, France have stated that tight-head prop Sylvain Marconnet will remain in their 30-man World Cup squad despite not having fully recovered from a broken leg.
The 31-year-old fractured his fibula and tibia in a skiing accident in March.
"Sylvain Marconnet will continue rehabilitation and physical training in order to be present at the World Cup," said a French team statement.
