By Phil Harlow

80 mins: The final whistle goes and that's that - Wasps will face Leicester in an all-English Heineken Cup final.

79 mins: Stop press - Shaun Edwards is seen smiling on the sidelines. Do not adjust your sets.

77 mins: TRY Northampton 13-30 Wasps
It's game over as Josh Lewsey runs in an excellent try. The ball is driven forward by Tom Rees under the posts before the ball comes wide through Dave Walder and Mark van Gisbergen to give Lewsey, who has been outstanding since coming on, an easy run-in.

Van Gisbergen kicks the conversion, via the post. It's one of those days now for Northampton.

75 mins: It's all Wasps now, and their fans are singing away in confident mood. Northampton need a miracle in the last five minutes.

72 mins: Wasps kick the penalty to touch to set up camp in Northampton territory.

69 mins: TRY Northampton 13-23 Wasps
Wasps score an excellent try through Paul Sackey after an excellent spell of attacking play. The winger scissors off Josh Lewsey, and explodes past four would-be tacklers to cross under the posts.

Northampton flanker Ben Lewitt slides into Sackey with his knees as the winger scores, sparking an understandably furious reaction from the Wasps players. Referee Alan Lewis punishes Northampton with a penalty on half-way, but Lewitt - who has already been sin-binned - can count himself lucky to still be on the pitch.

Mark van Gisbergen kicks the simple conversion.

67 mins: Wasps scrum-half Eoin Reddan gets away with a feed which is embarrassingly crooked. A nine-bob note would have been straighter.

65 mins: A prolonged period of Northampton comes to nought as Josh Lewsey manages to turn over possession for Wasps.

60 mins: TRY Northampton 13-16 Wasps
Talk about an impact substitution. James Haskell scores with his first touch to put Wasp ahead for the first time.

The Wasps pack drive from the line-out to get within inches of the line, and Haskell picks and goes from short range to dot it down on the line.

Mark van Gisbergen hits the post with the conversion, keeping the gap to three points.

57 mins: With five minutes of Ben Lewitt's sin-binning to go, Northampton are on the attack as they go through phase after phase. They get up to 20 without really making much ground and eventually concede a penalty which Danny Cipriani kicks to touch on the Saints 22.

Lawrence Dallaglio departs to be replaced by James Haskell.

50 mins: Josh Lewsey is on for Dominic Waldouck, who has struggled to find his feet at the Ricoh Arena.

48 mins: PEN Northampton 13-11 Wasps
Uh-oh - it's looking ominous for Northampton as Ben Lewitt gets 10 minutes in the sin-bin for deliberately killing the ball under his own posts.

To add insult to injury, Mark van Gisbergen slots the kick to bring Wasps to within two points.

43 mins: Wasps win a scrum against the head, with Saints in real trouble at the set-piece.

Fortunately for Northampton, another Wasps attack is ruined by poor handling as Dominic Waldouck - who is not having one of his better games - coughs up possession.

An apology to all those who suffered heart trouble after reading the scoreline of Northampton 13-80 Wasps a few minutes ago. It was a good old-fashioned typo!

41 mins: A challenge: Five of your English pounds to anyone who can get Shaun Edwards to sing "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands."

The Wasps coach looks furious on the bench; in fact, furious is understating it. On second thoughts, don't even attempt to speak to him.

Anyway, Wasps kick-off to get the second half under way.

"Wasps are coming back slowly but they've got a lot to do - was it the wrong decision to select Cipriani?"
Sam on 606

"I expect Shaun Edwards will be dishing out some Sir Alex Ferguson-style hairdryer treatment during the interval."
DixieBean on 606

40 mins: Carlos Spencer kicks the ball out to bring up half-time after a breathless first half.

38 mins: Brilliant work from Tom Rees as he snaffles the ball at the breakdown before bursting straight up the middle to create a try-scoring opportunity, but Tom Palmer spills the ball.

34 mins: TRY Northampton 13-8 Wasps
Wasps haul themselves back into the game with a smart finish from the prolific Paul Sackey.

A clever miss-pass from Eoin Reddan puts Sackey on the outside of the defence, and the England winger juggles the ball, reclaims it and just avoids the touchline to score. Danny Cipriani, take note.

Mark van Gisbergen curls the conversion wide.

33 mins: Lawrence Dallaglio gets a slap round the chops for the second time today. This time it's his former England team-mate Ben Cohen who draws one of those looks from the Wasps veteran.

Wasps get a penalty as a result, and Dallaglio instructs Danny Cipriani to kick for touch.

30 mins: Wasps create a tremendous scoring opportunity out wide, with Tom Voyce screaming his head off for the ball. It never gets anyway near him though, as laboured passing from Simon Shaw, Lawrence Dallaglio and Joe Worsley sees the space close up in an instant.

27 mins: PEN Northampton 13-0 Wasps
Wasps finally get on the scoreboard with a straightforward Mark van Gisbergen penalty after Northampton bring down a scrum.

Danny Cipriani is getting plenty of words of wisdom from Northampton's more experienced players. I wish I could lip-read.

25 mins: Wasps' decision to go for youth is certainly not paying dividends as yet. Danny Cipriani is pulled up for a forward pass after centre Dominic Waldouck overruns the play in midfield. The two have a frank exchange of views before returning to their positions.

23 mins: A great Wasps move flows from left to right, and an offload from Joe Worsley creates the space for Danny Cipriani, coming round on the loop, to seemingly score out wide.

But in a carbon copy of an incident in last week's Premiership game between the same two sides, Cipriani somehow manages to dot the ball down on the touch-line in-goal. It's deja-vu all over again.

19 mins: Wasps cannot keep hold of the ball for love nor money at the moment. A short pop pass from Eoin Reddan is treated like an unexploded grenade by Phil Vickery as he pats it forward.

Congregating his troops by the posts before Northampton's last penalty, captain Lawrence Dallaglio seems to be telling his players to get their game heads on.

"Right, I'm set up. Room service and rugby at the ready! What's the weather conditions today? It's very wet and cold in Shanghai. Bet it is a nice warm spring day for Wasps rampaging?"
DixieBean on 606. Ummm... do you want to tell him or shall I?

16 mins: PEN Northampton 13-0 Wasps
Another penalty for Northampton as Wasps infringe at the breakdown. Bruce Reihana obliges from distance again. An incredible start for the Saints.

12 mins: PEN Northampton 10-0 Wasps
Bruce Reihana slots the conversion with aplomb. It was never going anywhere than right between the posts - where has this goal-kicking been hiding for the rest of Northampton's season?

11 mins: The first kickable penalty of the match goes Northampton's way as Wasps prop Peter Bracken is pinged for taking the scrum down.

7 mins: The first flare-up of the game boils over - no prizes for guessing who is at the middle of things. Lawrence Dallaglio emerges from a ruck with Paul Tupai giving him a playground style headlock after his initial shove on Carlos Spencer.

Dallaglio repeatedly points at his eyes during a lengthy discussion with referee Alan Lewis, but no further action is taken.

4 mins: TRY Northampton 7-0 Wasps
A superb start for the underdogs as Bruce Reihana strikes to give his side a deserved lead.

A break straight through the middle of the Wasps midfield by Sean Lamont makes the opportunity. He gives it to Robbie Kydd who is hauled down by Dominic Waldouck. The ball is recycled quickly and goes left where Carlos Spencer passes out of the tackle to put Reihana out.

Reihana picks himself up and slots over an excellent conversion.

1 min: Mark Robinson gives his opposite number Eoin Reddan a friendly welcome to proceedings with a late tackle as the Wasps number nine gets a box-kick away within seconds of kick-off.

1458: The teams have to stand side-by-side in the tunnel for a few awkward moments before captains Lawrence Dallaglio and Bruce Reihana lead their teams out.

There is none of the back-slapping Thierry Henry-style tomfoolery though - this is serious business.

1455: The beers look to be flowing in Coventry, but there are still plenty of gaping holes around the stadium. Even so, the atmosphere is building up nicely.

"I am a Wasps fan in India and I keep refreshing the page to see if there's any more news on the game. I think Wasps should comfortably win by at least 10 points, partly because Saints hooker Dylan Hartley is missing."
rugby-mallard via e-mail

1450: A little bit of last-minute mind-games from Wasps coach Shaun Edwards in his pre-match TV interview. He expresses a hope that referee Alan Lewis keeps a close eye on the breakdown area, in contrast to the semi between Leicester and Scarlets on Saturday.

Not that Lawrence Dallaglio and co would ever push their luck at the breakdown, of course.

"I'm in my hotel in Shanghai waiting for the kick-off. Can only get the Chelsea v Newcastle game on TV here...."
DixieBean on 606

1435: With 25 minutes to go to kick-off, the ground is not exactly overflowing with fans. Of the SKY BLUES letters spelled out in the stadium's seats, you can still see the S, Y, B, L, E and S.

Earlier this week, Wasps director of rugby Ian McGeechan criticised the price of the tickets and it seems his fears may have been realised.

1430: Some late team news from the Ricoh Arena - Alex King is replaced on the bench by Dave Walder. King has been struggling with a knee injury all week, and was deemed unfit for Wasps' biggest game of the season.

1405: Wasps are in the enviable position of being able to name England's Josh Lewsey and James Haskell on the bench for this crucial semi-final, with Tom Voyce preferred on the wing and an all-star back-row of Joe Worsley, Tom Rees and Lawrence Dallaglio.

Another interesting selection call sees Danny Cipriani start at number 10, with the experienced Alex King on the bench. Has Ian McGeechan got it right?

As for Northampton, their chances took a blow with dynamic hooker Dylan Hartley's suspension after last week's Premiership match against the same opponents, although mercurial fly-half Carlos Spencer has made a rapid return from an ankle injury.

1342:misterarmchairpundit is fairly confident of a Wasps victory. "On paper, it looks like a one-horse race," he writes on the 606 pages.

1340: The weekend's second Heineken Cup semi-final, between Wasps and Northampton, at the Ricoh Arena is almost with us.

How do you think the game will go and if you are there what is the atmosphere and how confident are your team's fans? Why not text or e-mail us with your views?
