Andy Farrell (centre) congratulates Jason Robinson after the first of the winger's two tries on Saturday
Farrell (centre) thoroughly enjoyed his England rugby union debut

Ex-Great Britain rugby league captain Andy Farrell said he felt totally at home during his debut for the England rugby union side on Saturday.

"I thoroughly enjoyed it," he said after the 42-20 win against Scotland.

"I've been through a lot and worked very hard, so these times make all that effort worthwhile.

"There was a lot of pressure riding on the first game. Obviously everybody was expecting us to win, but I thought we won well."

The centre moved to union in 2005 but was out with injury for a year and only made his Saracens debut last September.

I expect things to get harder from here on in

League convert Andy Farrell
Farrell believed the intensity on Saturday was "not that much different" to a Premiership match, but expects life to get more demanding.

"Our forwards controlled the game and if you've got forwards that are going forward then as a back division it's quite easy to control the game," he added.

"It's a new team and everyone was pulling in the right direction.

"I expect things to get harder from here on in but I think we can have a good week next week and build on this."

Farrell was joined in the side by former Wigan rugby league team-mate Jason Robinson, who was back in the team after coming out of international retirement.

And the winger, who scored two tries, said he thought his fellow league convert had made an encouraging debut.

"I thought he played well," said Robinson, who marked his own comeback with two tries.

"He got involved, he took the ball in when he needed to, he showed he can pass a ball out and he had some good offloads as well."
