Wallabies send home unfit Tuqiri
Lote Tuqiri during Australia's training camp in Canberra
Tuqiri failed a fitness test
Australia have sent home winger Lote Tuqiri and three other players from a World Cup training camp in Canberra after they failed fitness tests.

Tuqiri, Mark Gerrard, Morgan Turinui and Tatafu Polota-Nau have all returned to their Super 14 clubs to undertake training programmes.

Coach John Connolly said: "Players were told if they were unable to meet certain standards they'd be removed.

"The four players have been sent home for failing to meet those standards."

The three-day camp in Canberra was intended to lay the foundations for Australia's preparations ahead of September's World Cup in France.

The squad were re-grouping after returning from Australia's tour of Europe, where they defeated Scotland and Italy, drew with Wales and lost to Ireland.

"We have very limited time available to us for physical preparation before the World Cup," said Connolly.

"This camp was to give us a platform from which to build on for the rest of the year."
