Newcastle Falcons centre Mathew Tait says he has not suffered any long-term psychological damage after being dropped by England after just one game. The 19-year-old, who will relaunch his England career in Sunday's Churchill Cup final against Argentina, made his debut in the Six Nations loss to Wales.
"I never expected to be capped so young. There are a lot of positives to take from the experience," he said.
"It will hold me in good stead when the chance arises again."
Tait added that he understood why England coach Andy Robinson left him out of the set-up following the side's first defeat in Cardiff for 12 years.
"My confidence did take a knock, but that would have been the case with older, more experienced guys as well," said the Newcastle Falcons star.
"They just wanted to change things around. I accept that and will learn from it. The last year has been good for me. I was glad to get picked for the Churchill Cup.
"Getting selected for Sunday has given me another great chance to show what I can do."
