Goode said England have room for improvement |
Fly-half Andy Goode insists England must lift their game for the Churchill Cup final against Argentina on Sunday. Joe Lydon's side sealed their place with an unconvincing 29-5 win over Canada last weekend, while Argentina needed a late try to beat USA 34-30.
"We'll have to raise the bar against Argentina," Goode said. "Although they only just got past the USA, they are a step up from Canada."
"They'll raise their game but we'll study them over the next few days."
Goode and Leicester club-mate Louis Deacon were sent to the sin-bin amid an ill-disciplined display against Canada.
He admitted England would have to tighten up all aspects of their game if they wanted to win back the trophy they lost to the New Zealand Maori last year.
"It was a tough game and there were some big hits going in from both teams, some legal and some illegal," he said. "We struggled a bit with the referee's interpretation of the breakdown and struggled to get our game going for that reason.
"We couldn't build pressure on their defence. We have plenty to work on ahead of the final."
