Centre Olly Barkley has withdrawn from England's squad for next month's Churchill Cup with a shoulder injury. The 23-year-old will stay at home to recuperate and will be replaced by uncapped Bath team-mate Andrew Higgins.
Leeds centre Chris Bell faces a late fitness test on his shoulder before deciding whether he is fit enough to fly out with the squad on 9 June.
England play hosts Canada on 19 June, the USA face Argentina on the same day and the final is one week later.
"Olly will continue his rehab to make sure that he is ready for pre-season training," said Joe Lydon, who is in charge of England while Andy Robinson is on tour with the Lions.
"We look forward to having him back with us next season."
