Winger Lomu last represented the All Blacks in 2002 |
Former All Blacks winger Jonah Lomu is set to sign a contract to play in New Zealand's National Provincial Championship, according to reports. The New Zealand Herald reported that Lomu will join first division North Harbour, based north of Auckland.
Lomu has not played since 2003 when the nephrotic syndrome kidney disease he suffers from worsened.
Last year, he suffered renal failure and underwent a kidney transplant after a desperate appeal for a donor.
The 29-year-old is to play his first full game for three years in Martin Johnson's testimonial on 4 June at Twickenham.
Lomu will lead a southern hemisphere side against a team picked by the ex-England captain.
The winger, who has won 63 caps for New Zealand and scored 37 tries, remains determined to resume his international career.
