Lomu eyes 2007 World Cup
Jonah Lomu
Lomu is waiting for a suitable kidney donor
Jonah Lomu has set his sights on a spot in the All Blacks side at the 2007 World Cup as he continues his battle against a rare kidney disease.

The 29-year-old has been undergoing regular dialysis treatment as he awaits a suitable kidney donor and has not played for more than a year.

But Lomu has not given up hope of a return to international rugby.

"I'm saying I'll be in the New Zealand team at the 2007 World Cup," Lomu told The Times newspaper.

"There's no medical reason why not.

"This Jonah Lomu thing is not finished. Jonah Lomu is an uncompleted project."

Lomu revealed there is a possibility of a suitable transplant donor although it will be several months before anything can be confirmed.

He sprang onto the world stage at the 1995 World Cup with a string of stunning displays, scoring four tries in a semi-final rout of England.
