Justin Harrison was handed a three-match suspension |
Ulster are to proceed with the signing of disgraced Australian lock Justin Harrison on Tuesday. Harrison, who received a recent three-match ban following a racial slur, has agreed a three-year deal.
"He was due to officially sign last week in Sydney,'' said Michael Reid, Ulster's Chief Executive. ''But obviously other things took precedent.
"We have no trouble in bringing Justin over. He's an experienced lock who will provide the hard graft that we need."
Harrison was banned for three Super 12 rugby matches after he admitted making a racial slur against a black opponent last week.
Harrison was also fined 8,300 but will escape this penalty if he completes an anti-discrimination course and 30 hours of community service.
Harrison admitted he made a racial slur at Golden Cats' winger Chumani Booi during the NSW Waratahs' Super 12 game in Johannesburg on 12 March.
Harrison, who is president of the Australian Rugby Union Player Association, later telephoned Booi to apologise for the remark and it was understood his apology was accepted.
The 34-times capped Wallaby will sign on the dotted line at his Sydney base on Tuesday. He is due to arrive in the province before the start of the new season.
