New Zealand beat Australia 16-7 in the 2004 Tri Nations opener |
Sanzar, which runs the Super 12 and Tri-Nations for South Africa, New Zealand and Australia, has committed its future to the competitions. There had been questions raised over South Africa's future involvement after attempts to lure South African players and clubs to European competitions.
But Australia Rugby Union managing director Grant Flower said there was a unanimous decision at a board meeting.
"We are very positive about the future of Sanzar," he said.
The broadcasting deal for the Tri Nations and Super 12 expires after next season after an initial 10-year agreement and the future of the two competitions will depend on the renegotiation of the contract.
But the Sanzar board said they had received a positive report from broadcast consultant Ian Frykberg over a new deal following his discussions with global broadcasters.
And Flower added: "Our boards need to consider the options following this report and the Sanzar board will convene again in the coming weeks to determine the package to be offered."
