Gross was a key player for Rotherham |
Newcastle have signed American lock Luke Gross from relegated Rotherham. The 34-year-old former Harlequins and Llanelli player, the United States' most-capped player with 62, has agreed a two-year deal with the Falcons.
"Luke brings with him not only a lot of Test match quality, but also a lot of European experience," said Falcons director of rugby Rob Andrew.
"His set-piece play will be a big bonus for us, and his ball skills are excellent for a man of his size."
Gross, who is 6ft 9in tall and weighs 19 stone, hails from Decatur, Indiana.
He played club rugby for the Cincinnati Wolfhounds before moving to Europe, and also had a spell with Rovigo in Italy.
