ACT Brumbies earned top spot in the Super-12 table and a home game in the semi-finals thanks to a close win at the Waikato Chiefs.
But the bonus point Waikato picked up for losing by less than seven points was enough to seal the Chiefs' place in the play-offs too.
Full-back Joe Roff scored an early try for the Brumbies and centre Matt Giteau scored another after the break.
Chiefs' fly-half Glen Jackson kicked three penalties and David Hill one to set up a semi-final against Canterbury.

Bulls moved up to sixth in the table while Gerrie Britz scored a hat-trick for the Cats.
