Fielden signed a new two-year contract with Wigan in September

Wigan prop Stuart Fielden is expected to be out of action for up to four months after undergoing surgery on a knee injury on Tuesday.

The England international's only Wigan appearance this season was in their 44-10 win over Bradford last month.

Warriors head coach Michael Maguire said: "Although the operation was successful, recovery and full rehab will take between 12 and 16 weeks.

"It is a blow to lose such an experienced player from the side."
