Tickle joined his hometown club from Halifax four years ago |
Wigan have confirmed they will not be offering a new contract to England A second row forward Danny Tickle. The 23-year-old joined his hometown club from Halifax three years ago but has fallen victim to the salary cap.
"We are trying to plan through to 2010 but sadly we are unable to include him as we work to remain within the salary cap," said chairman Maurice Lindsay.
"The salary cap for 2007 is only 1.6 m and so we will be forced to release some players."
Head coach Brian Noble says he is sorry to see Tickle leave.
"Not only has he been a good player for us but he is also one of the best goal kickers in the country," said Noble.
"He is a victim of the need to remain within the salary cap but we wish him well and thank him for his contribution here."
