McAvoy has played for union side Saracens and the England sevens side |
Former Bradford centre Nathan McAvoy has joined Wigan to become Brian Noble's first signing as coach. The 29-year-old has been released from his contract with Leeds and has been added to the Warriors squad for Sunday's Super League match with Hull.
"Nathan is a player I know very well having worked with him at Bradford," said Noble.
"He is a good addition to our squad, he is honest and hard working."
McAvoy joined the Rhinos at the start of the season after being released by Salford at the end of the 2005 campaign.
However he has only made one Rhinos appearance as a replacement in the Challenge Cup fourth-round win at Leigh.
Leeds coach Tony Smith said: "The agreement with Nathan was always that we would review the situation during the year and we would like to wish him well for the future."
